Synopsis

Kang Do-yun has always believed honesty is the only real protection he can offer. A former special forces medic, he has spent his life walking into other people's worst moments: talking frightened people down, stopping the bleeding, and refusing to give comforting lies to anyone who deserves the truth. He has saved strangers. He could not save his younger sister, Min-seo, who died of cancer after she was turned away from an early clinical trial. Rather than treating wealth and power as glamorous backdrops, the story examines how legitimacy, family duty, class and secrecy shape the lives these two men are permitted to lead. Do-yun is a working-class soldier and Ji-han is an unwanted heir. Both are outsiders to the power they serve, and both are trying to protect what the powerful would sooner discard.

Blending slow-burn romance, a bodyguard-and-CEO dynamic, suspicion that deepens with every tender moment, and mature emotional storytelling between two adult men, *Guarded Pulse* follows two people learning that love cannot survive on protection alone.
